Just received the same message as "at work" above.
Tentatively called back and phone was answered "United States Census Bureau." "Isabel" told me it was for a questionnaire the Census Bureau is mailing about health care costs, etc. Wanted to know who to direct it to. She had the company name (correctly) along with (correct) mailing address and phone number. Wanted a person's name/title to receive the survey.
I gave her my name and title.
She quoted an "approval number" from the OMB of 0935-0110 as authorization.
Since I didn't really have to give out any information (except my name), I think it MAY be legit....I guess I'll see if/when the questionnaire shows up!
(She did ask me the company name "for verification purposes" and I refused to give it to her, but told her I would verify what she had in her file. Ditto for address, etc.)
Called for manager and left message saying it was the census bureau asking for them to call them back with a case number.
Doesn't seem legitimate if their reverse phone number look up is not the census.
Sounds like a scam
